AFRICAN DANCEParticipants are introduced to elements of Western African traditional dance, its origins and significance, as well as urban and modern dance. African dance is organic, earth-bound and provides physical relaxation and awareness of the body. It is equally appropriate for women and men, for dancers with and without experience. Several levels are available:-AFRICAN DANCE COURSE 1 Taught by: Dalanda Diallo, Maša Kagao Knez This course is intended for people who want to learn about African dance and rhythms. It is accompanied by live percussion. No previous dance knowledge necessary. -AFRICAN DANCE COURSE 2 Taught by: Maša Kagao Knez This course is intended for dancers with previous experience who want to learn about African dance and rhythms. It is accompanied by live percussion music. Previous knowledge of African dance is desired. -AFRO CONTEMPORARY DANCE Taught by: Maša Kagao Knez While modern African dance is fairly unknown in Slovenia it is certainly established as a performing art in all major European countries. It is a synthesis of African dance, or rather elements thereof, and modern dance with a specific technique and form.
