Premiera predstave Dia Diasso Diasspora bo obenem osrednji dogodek mednarodnega festivala afriške kulture Baofest 2013.

Dia Diasso Diasspora by Maša Kagao Knez is a unique mixture of African culture and the expression of modern music and dance. The piece stems from personal stories and experience of its international cast of collaborative authors of whom all are in their own way linked to Africa and source their work from African culture.
The word Dia means prosperity in Malinke, one of the languages of West Africa, Diasso means a good home (the word is also the surname of the choreographer’s father), whilst the word Diasspora speaks about the state of constant dichotomy between the homelands of the two parents and about the many faces of being different or the experience of (not) belonging.
With this striking piece of dance and music its authors have overcome the boundaries of countries and even continents and brought originality, spontaneity and openness onto the Slovenian cultural scene.
Dancer and choreographer Maša Kagao Knez trained in Paris at the George Momboye’s school for traditional and contemporary African dance. She lives and works in Ljubljana where she was born.
The opening night of Dia Diasso Diasspora is also the main event of the international festival of African culture Baofest 2013.
